Lab Portal

One digital front door for everyone your laboratory serves

Providers, clinics and patients each need a different amount of the laboratory. The portal gives each of them their own view of the same underlying work, configured to your laboratory's workflow.

Who uses it

Three audiences, one system

Each group sees a different amount of the laboratory, governed by their role and their facility.

Providers

The ordering physician's view: place the order, track it, get the result, keep the record.

  • Place orders against your catalog with the tests the provider is authorized to order
  • View their patients and the orders they placed
  • Review results as soon as they are released
  • Download reports in your laboratory's format
  • Track order and specimen status without calling client services
  • Manage the facilities they order from

Clinics

The practice's operational view: submit work, attach documents, track it, close the loop.

  • Submit requisitions for one patient or a batch
  • Upload insurance cards, records and supporting documents
  • Track specimens from collection through receipt and testing
  • View and download results for the whole practice
  • Communicate with the laboratory against a specific order
  • Manage users within their own facility

Patients

Optional and fully configurable. Some laboratories want this; some do not, and that is a workflow decision.

  • Order history
  • Access to their own results, subject to your release policy
  • Documents shared with them by the laboratory
  • Notifications when something is available
  • Secure, authenticated access scoped to their own record

Patient-facing functionality is configurable per laboratory. Whether patients see results directly, and under what release rules, is your decision and your clinical policy — the platform enforces what you configure.

Configuration

Configured to your laboratory's workflow, not ours

What each audience can see and do is a decision your laboratory makes and the platform enforces.

  • Per-facility catalogs

A clinic sees the tests it is set up to order, not your entire catalog.

  • Per-role permissions

What each portal user can see and do is governed by their role within their facility.

  • Per-recipient delivery

Portal access, interface delivery, fax and download configured per provider and facility.

  • Your branding

The portal presents as your laboratory's, with your identity on the reports it delivers.

Questions

Portal questions

Can patients see results directly?

Only if your laboratory configures it that way. Patient access is optional, and the release rules that govern what a patient can see and when are set by your laboratory's clinical policy — the platform enforces the policy you configure.

Can clinics have their own users?

Yes. Each facility can have its own users with roles scoped to that facility, administered either by your laboratory or delegated to the facility.

Does the portal replace an EMR interface?

It complements one. Practices with an EMR interface generally prefer results in the chart; the portal serves the practices that do not have one, and gives every practice a place to track orders and retrieve documents.
